The Real Meaning Behind Massive Action

A week ago I did a webinar with hundreds of people on it. I was sick as a dog.
Literally, it was all I could do to get out of bed to do the webinar. I gave it
my best shot and somehow pulled it off.

The next day I went to the doctor. While I was there I told her I was also having heart pains, so she ordered a cholesterol test. I got the results back Tuesday, and it was 256. And I’m a freaking 26 year old vegetarian!

Coincidentally, three days prior I was reading an ad by one of the greatest copywriters of all time, Gary Bencivenga. In it he talked about how a landmark study showed that if you had cholesterol levels below 150, you were virtually heart-attack proof.

So that’s my goal – by the next checkup (2 months from now) I WILL have my cholesterol down to that level.

Now here’s what’s instructive: when I want something, I do EVERYTHING in my willpower to achieve it. That’s the real secret behind my success.

I’m a living, breathing example of massive action. So here’s what I did in this case to achieve my goal.

First, I went back to my vegan diet, meaning I cut ALL animal products out of my diet, not just meat.

Second, I researched and found the foods that were considered the best for lowering cholesterol. A lot of sites said that oat bran, almonds, walnuts, blueberries, blackberries and flaxseed are all excellent.

So now for breakfast, here’s what I eat: organic oat bran cereal with ground flaxseed, mixed with almond slices, crushed walnuts, blueberries and blackberries in vanilla soy milk.

And for dinner I eat the other major cholesterol reducers such as legumes, garlic, foods fortified with omega 3’s and plant sterols/stanols, and black soybeans, etc.

In addition, I make sure to get 5 servings of fruits and vegetables a day.

We’re just starting… For a while my exercise routine fell to the wayside as I found myself working day and night.  Not anymore. The first thing I do in the morning when I wake up is exercise for 30 minutes.

And finally, I do a heavy dosage of NLP and hypnosis on myself as well, because the mental mind controls the physical body tons more than most people realize – so I literally visualize my arteries in peak condition and my vital organs working perfectly and so forth.

When I want something, damn it, I don’t do one or two things to try to get it. I do everything in my willpower TO get it.

When I talk to most of my coaching clients, they will want something specific in their business. Like traffic, for example. I ask them what they are currently doing to generate traffic. They usually list one or two things. And on expectation, those things are executed very poorly.

If I wanted traffic, I’d create a “traffic schedule”, where first thing in the morning that is what I’d go through. The traffic schedule would take roughly 3-4 hours to execute and would be 3-4 different traffic strategies that I would use and I would max out every different way to use them. That way, even if 90% of them didn’t work, then I wouldn’t care, because the other 10% would be good enough to start with.

ANY improvement is better than no improvement.

When I wanted to write articles consistently in 7 minutes, I approached it with the same tenacity. Ads in 3 hours? Same tenacity. Products in 48 hours or less? Same tenacity.

You need to condition yourself to approach whatever you want in Internet Marketing with the same tenacity.

You know why most people don’t succeed? It’s not because of lack of information. It’s not lack of opportunity. It’s not lack of skill. It’s not lack of time.

They just don’t want it bad enough. How bad do you want it?

I remember when I first got bit by the Internet Marketing bug. I was painting houses for $12 an hour and living with my dad in a tiny apartment.

When I got exposed to Internet Marketing, here’s what I did. I’d wake up
two hours before work to devote time just to Internet Marketing. Then after painting houses all day, I’d come home and work until bedtime.

Repeat the process…

That was less than 21 months ago! And now look where I’m at. And I know
you can do the same, if you want it bad enough.

So today is the day where you sit down and write down what you want
more badly than anything and when you will get it. Then don’t just do
one, two, three or four things to “try” to get it, but do everything
in your willpower TO get it.

Then after you get it, send me a thank you card in the mail for being
the person who kicked you in the butt to get you started down the right
path.

That‘s awesome Jason! I wish you the best of luck.

You know, you can also create a health-related info product on this on how you managed to lower your cholesterol and the experience you went through.

  2. Wow, 113 total? How much of that is the good HDL? Just curious.

  3. GeorgeP says:

Don’t believe the 150 level won’t prevent a heart attack, although it is a good goal. My cholestorol level is 113 and I had a heart attack and had to have a triple by-pass.

    Hi Jason,

If there is ever a kick in da butt that I enjoy the most – it’s the one that you give. Keep it coming, eh.

  5. Allen says:

Hey Jason… you’re an intense man! Love it!

One of the things that helps me is making sure that ever night before I could to bed I’m one step closer to xy and z. Some of it is almost automated (ie. I have 6 session booked in at the gym everyweek so I just have to make sure I turn up).

The rest take discipline and enough focus to cut out the ‘noise’…

Good luck, thanks for all your work and help – and I really enjoyed the webinar (I wasn’t there but I download them and listen to them when driving – great format).

    Best wishes

  6. Julie says:

Jason: My cholesterol dropped 40+ points when I started taking fish oil regularly. I didn’t make any other dietary changes. Nordic Naturals is a good brand since you want to avoid mercury that can be present in some brands. Good luck!

  7. Sharon Deloy says:

    Hi Jason:
I have heard that soy products contain the female hormone so I only use whey protein not soy protein.

It’s not your will power that spurs you on. It is your subconscious mind power that gets you your results. You alluded to it above but you called it the mental mind.

I expect you to be healthy in your next few posts.

    Take care,
    Sharon

  8. Victoria says:

    Hi Jason,
Success to you! I enjoyed your blog today, it rangs lots of bells for me!!…For 11 years I was a vegetarian and then I started the local press (on a tiny Caribbean island for 8 years), forgot to balance exercise, eating on time, doing things for myself and taking time to relax… and became a beanpole and a ball of nerves, well…this time round I am trying to balance all those things and I just discovered that I still pressure myself with an unrealistic time schedule (instead of in the flow). It takes a time to take up the good habits, now I start my day with a swim! If you like fried plantains, humous, dried nuts, dried fruits, even freshly sqeezed lime juice or a water drink mixed with tsp of honey – does wonders for the energy level! best Victoria

  9. wes says:

P.S. whatever you do AVOID SOY unless it is fermented
use oat, almond, or hemp milk

  10. wes says:

You seem to be getting more than enough feedback on the health issue so briefly: speaking from recent experience.
doctors know less than nothing about nutrition and what they know could kill you. No matter what your diet do make sure you get sufficient omega 3 and 6 oils daily.

  11. Dave says:

Ummm… there’s no direct correlation between total cholesterol and heart disease. There is also never been a definitive scientific study showing a correlation between “bad” cholesterol and heart disease.

There is a correlation between molecule size and heart disease. It just isn’t as simple as LDL/HDL and total value.

  12. Hi Jason,

    love your take charge attitude.

As a natural health stuff junkie, I just had to add my 2 cents, of course…

First: before you go crazy on trying to get to a specific number for total cholesterol, consider checking your HDL vs. LDL vs. VLDL. You want to lower the latter two (especially the last) but INCREASE the first. HDL actually cleans your arteries and your body needs it to function.

So as long as your LDL and your VLDL are at or below the “good” range, the total means nothing because the higher your HDL the better. Talk about tricky math!

Another thing: your body can MAKE cholesterol if you’re not getting enough. And it needs cholesterol to function properly. So don’t try to eliminate it all or it will backfire on you.

Also, it’s the combination of sugar/grains/carbs and fat that causes the trouble, so I agree with Lyudmilia about the fish and green stuff to include, and with others to consider cutting out the grains. The one thing to definitely cut out is trans fat (any partially or wholly hydrogenated oil). The stuff is deadly.

Berries are great too, but I’d go easy on the more sugary fruit, and stick to low-carb veggies as well. A South Beach type of diet is ideal. Or a heavy in low-carb veggies and seafood version of Atkins. Seriously.

Not that there’s a danger that you’d overdo the seafood, but if you do decide to go that route, it’s good to incorporate lots of sardines — they have the perfect Omega-3 profile and are practically uncontaminated since they’re vegetarians (!) themselves or so I’ve heard, and in any case haven’t had a chance to accumulate toxins as they’re low on the food chain.

I also like CoQ10 and Artichoke, among other stuff including guggul. And if your triglycerides are really high too, you may want to try Niacin as well.

    As for traffic…

why not create a step by step for your loyal fans, with all the (proven!) traffic generating things in bite sized action steps on a daily basis? Or do you have that already somewhere?

    Thanks & good luck!

    Elisabeth

  13. Cara Yowell says:

    Excellent post,Jason!

Empowering on the subject of what folks can actually control in their lives. I am sure you will resolve the cholesterol issue.

Please keep sharing your wisdom. Also glad to know I am not alone in pulling out the big guns to get where I want to go
(NLP, hypnosis, scripting, schedules, elbow grease, and the secret sauce).

    Blessings always,

    Cara

  14. There is a raging controversy about cholesterol these days, and I believe the explanation given by Tony Robbins, quoting Dr. Wright, are the best I’ve heard in a generation.

I have had a cholesterol rating of 225 as long as I can remember. No amount of changes in diet – vegetarianism or otherwise – has changed that. The simple reason is that the main culprit in high C readings is the alkaline-acid balance. When the blood becomes too acid (a deadly condition) the body will do whatever it takes to correct that situation, i.e. leach alkaline-producing elements like calcium and magnesium from the bones and organs to maintain a neutral balance in the blood.

Meanwhile, the changes in acid-alkalinity affects the walls of the blood vessels and capillaries and begins to thin them, causing another dangerous and life-threatening condition that may lead to a rupture, and possible stoke or death. The body, having an innate intelligence, will do whatever it takes to prevent this. The main substance used to repair arterial walls? You guessed it: cholesterol. The body will lay down a matrix of the stuff over thinning capillary walls to keep them from rupturing – and you from dying.

Cholesterol of 150? Nice idea, but if your body is too acid – and this can happen to vegetarians BTW – you will probably not be able to affect the C levels. Most vegetarians and vegans also suffer from increased levels of systemic yeast and latent parasites, all of which produce acid waste in the system.

Remedy? You got the first part right – cut out all meat, dairy and eggs from your diet. Then go on a gallon-a-day veggie juice regimen (raw juice or a quality green powder like Perfect Food or Nano Greens), kill parasites (see Hulda Clark), do a liver-gall-bladder cleanse, and also drink lots of fresh water. Over a period of a few weeks and months, pH testing of your saliva and urine will show more alkalinity.

If nothing changes with THAT regimen, you should have a doctor check your adrenal, thyroid and pituitary levels. Many changes in metabolism can be traced to endocrine disorders. Get a blood test done to see if there are gross deficiencies or elevations, but also use applied kinesiology to determine sub-clinical deficiencies that don’t show up on blood tests.

The bottom line? Forget cholesterol. Focus on how you feel, and the level of acidity in your urine and saliva.

  15. Jason, don’t kill yourself trying to hit that 150 level. Just a few years ago, anything under 300 was considered normal.

Then the big pharmaceutical companies got together and “convinced” the powers that be to lower the “normal” level to 200.

Suddenly, big pharma had a whole lot more customers for their cholesterol-lowering statin drugs, even among children.

Don’t believe everything the MD’s tell you.

    Stay happy, stay healthy.

  16. George says:

Sorry to hear about your health problems. However, it is evident that you will do what is needed to get healthier.

As others have said your issues may not be tied to meats. Incorporating some red meats in a diet is good.

  17. Dana says:

    Jason,
Do yourself a favor, quit soy drink and switch to rice drink.
You can find it in the supermarket in the same section where the non-refrigerated soy drinks are.
As for your high cholesterol, please goto the Dr. Mercola website. This article starts about red rice yeast, BUT turns into an informational bombshell about cholesterol and how to get your real count. Someone in a post above made reference to this process.
I have posted the link below. His newsletter is very informative and free. I believe the good doctor also has articles about soy drinks…they aren’t really good for you.
    Good Luck,
    Dana

“And finally, I do a heavy dosage of NLP and hypnosis on myself as well, because the mental mind controls the physical body tons more than most people realize – so I literally visualize my arteries in peak condition and my vital organs working perfectly and so forth.”

And THAT is the only thing that will make a real difference – not what you eat, but what you BELIEVE about what you eat!

Good luck and thanks for the kick in the butt :)

  19. Daviette says:

    HI Jason…
You have a beautiful positive attitude. Your willingness to focus and to take ‘massive action’ is a blessing. You will have success. You will be healed. This is my prayer for you. Thank you for sharing!

  22. TensDiet says:

Hi Jason! I enjoyed your article very much – nice way to tie what’s happening with your personal life to business advice. Obviously, you’ve already learned that taking care of yourself is incredibly important, so all I can say is “good for you”! So many people just accept their so-called “fate” and take meds or live with the problem. My weight loss members are learning what you already know – that you DON’T have to live with a body you don’t like and that you CAN do what needs to be done if you’re motivated enough. Good for you that you’ve grasped that at an early age!

I wish you continued success (with your health and with your biz) and look forward to your future blogs.

    Tammy

  23. Annette says:

    Hi Jason,

Must admire your energy. I hate excercising on machines or while staring at 4 walls. Just not the type. I was born on a farm, lived most of my life on the farm and totally wrecked my body working like a slave on the farm. I am glad to spend some time sitting now, lol. Not that it is doing me much good. I’m riddled with arthritis and not moving much to avoid the pain makes me gain weight, a problem I’ve also always carried with me.

I have found a solution to weight that has helped with my colesterol too. Just check out my blog and follow the link to the FAQ and the link under the image of Dr. Bounous asking you to rebuild your immune system.

Ok so you are a vegan, because you think it is healthier, or because you don’t like the tate of animal products?

Could be your loss as there are not many edible things that can rebuild your individual, unique immune system. If you have too high colesterol at your age, that tells me you got tons of free radicals running around your body which are increased by your vicious attack through excercise.

When the molecules in your cells responsible for neutralizing your free radicals get used up, there is no easy, healthy way to replace them. Check out my blog.

Thanks, if you are reading this.

    Annette

  24. Dude, throw in some meditation for 10 minutes a day. Your mind’s got to be stress-free for really perfect health.

  25. Trevor Emdon says:

    Hi Jason,

You are certainly inspiring, and I’m sorry you’ve been hit with difficult news.

I see you’ve had a ton of diet advice already, but I’d be remiss as someone who cares if I didn’t say this:

High cholesterol may be a problem related to dehydration, not food! Apparently, your blood vessels create cholesterol to prevent precious water osmosing into tissues … I’m not a medic, but I recommend you read “The Body’s Many Cries For Water” by Dr. F. Batmanghelidj. (ISBN 978-1-903571-49-1)

    It’s a real eye opener!

    I wish you well, man.

    All good things
    Trevor.

  26. Jan says:

Well done Jason for simply writing this stuff up, help us take action and at the same time kick your own butt. I think you’ll get there no problem. There is of course a lot of advice above but don’t let fear come into your life now (and I dont think you do). There are no problems man: you are just making an adjustment to have an ever better life that you have already :-) My partner changed lifestyle a couple of years back and started eating macrobiotic stuff. She claims it has helped tremendously in various areas of her life. Overall, you do have lots of control over your own health, and I think the way you are taking action is admirable. Now, I should start taking some massive action myself and pack all my stuff up in boxes before my move in 2 days to..Prague!! All the best

  27. Jimmy Cook says:

    Hey buddy,

I’ve always said moderation in all things except when you need or want to get something done … then going to extremes is the answer!

    What’s your traffic generation outline?

  28. Martin says:

    Hey man,

Glad to hear you’re pulling through this one. Did you read Tim Ferriss’s latest blog post on saturated fats? It’s freaking suprising. Take a look:

  29. Nando says:

    Hey Jason,

I know you’ll be better soon, because you want to be. Something I noticed about the mark of truly successful people is that they always find a way to tie in whatever is happening in their life to a lesson they can carry over to their business.

Thanks for the inspiration and instruction you continually deliver.

  30. Joshua Collins says:

Exact same breakfast I have most mornings! Anyhow, what you say is true, and it actually sparks my motivation that much more. I think I will set me up a ‘traffic’ schedule…

  31. Hey Jason. Sorry to hear about your wake up call, but that’s what it is and I know you’ll do what you need to do. I found the “pep talk’ you gave to yourself was very beneficial to me as well. Thanks for that and keep us posted about how you’re doing.

  32. Andy says:

“Coincidentally, three days prior I was reading an ad by one of the greatest copywriters of all time, Gary Bencivenga. In it he talked about how a landmark study showed that if you had cholesterol levels below 150, you were virtually heart-attack proof.”

Whatever he was promoting, I bet thy sold a ton of it. He certainly sold you. I always take a healthy dose of skepticism when reading ads, especially those written by the “masters”. Just because the ads sell, doesn’t make the copy true.

  33. Debi says:

I suspect you *know with certainty* what’s created this problem and what will alleviate it. My guess is the answer’s not “more of the same” — in any guise — but that’s just a guess. Another guess: maybe a bit of time under a tree in the sun? Bring pencil and paper…

I’m sending good thoughts to you: take gentle care… aloha…

  34. Anthony says:

    Ouch…my butt is sore!

  35. John says:

    Jason,
I can relate to thr cholesterol and all, though at 53, I’ve had HC for the last20 yrs. or so. I like your tenacity in “Getting it done” and thats exactly what I keep telling my wife when she finds me still at the computer 5am. LLast night was an all-nighter.
What I wanted to suggest is that you do some research on just how “good” soy milk is, here in the U.S. if I can find the article, I’ll get it to ya’ but in the meantime, don’t believe the so-called benefits of soy; especially if in the U.S. it’s best to use organic rice milk, which I’ve found to be quite pleasant tasting.
As I approached 50 yrs. of age, dairy, including soy that I used to drink/eat, has given me tons of IBS symptoms.
Do you use any guidance audios for your visualizations?

    Best of luck, Jason.
Oh..Exercise, even if only walking daily, would be another step to include in your regimin. You probably already exercise enough:)
    Sincerely,
    John

  36. Melody says:

Hi Jason, there is some controversy about low cholesterol…some studies have found that low levels are bad for your health also. And cholesterol is not the only factor in CV disease. Like anything else, your mileage may vary and doing some research on your own is always a good thing. :-)

  37. Lyudmila Heimowitz says:

Dear Jason, your story is fantastic and educational at the same time.I like your manner of writing , speaking and mentoring in your videos. You are unbelievably talented, smart and you have great personality as well . From the story presented in this email I now know how hard your road way to the place where you are at present time.
As for your diet, my friend, you should eat more green stuff as
lettuce and romain leaf and of course fish, which delivers to your
body omega -3 which very essential for your health and immune system.
I cannot believe my friend that you at your young age already reached such tremendous success.GOD bless,Lyudmila

  38. Phil Morgan says:

    Hi Jason,

Zig Ziglar often asks in his talks: “Isn’t it amazing how much work we can get done the day before we go on vacation.”

Well, if we can pull it off on that day because we are motivated to do so, it must be possible every day of the year. Imagine how productive we would be if we could just work at that intensity every day. And why not?

Massive action usually doesn’t require any different circumstances or even opportunities (nothing changes outwardly the day before vacation). It simply requires a change of mindset. When we’re motivated to take massive action we will. That’s a head matter.

All the best with your new regime, Jason.

    Phil

  39. Michelle says:

My butt is still sore from where you’ve kicked it.

Thank you card will be in the mail… once the bruises have healed and I can sit at the computer again.

  40. Charann says:

    Hey Jason,

talk about a full on assault in every aspect of your life.

Yours are the first emails I read because you always have something of value to post. I find your messages inspiring.

Keep ‘em coming. I know you’ll get to your ideal cholesterol target especially when you approached it the way that you have.

  41. Hi Jason
Sorry that your being bothered with supposed ” health” problems at your age. Cholesterol is a factor in heart attack but it is not the main item to consider.
My advice DON’T LISTEN TO THE DOCTORS” what they and the Big Pharma group will try and do is make you think that you have a problem. You really don’t. They are interested in having you believe your sick so they can pile on the medications and doctor visits.
I’m 70 ish and am in reasonably good shape and have Psoriasis. The doctors did not get rid of it. I did.
Any way your not interested in my rants. So what you might do is look for alternative treatment and advice from known people (there are some great doctors here ) who want to improve your health not profit from keeping you thinking you are sick

I like the fact that you’ve taken action.
Let me know it you’d like the names of the alternative medicine group. There are some great names out there.

    Gary

p.s I like your marketing stuff. You have some great marketing methods and can help a lot of people including me.

    Hi Jason,

I heard that red yeast rice is good also.

I have been on this guys list for awhile- he is a doctor (Dr. Bill) check him out if you like. Here is his site http://www.favoriteformulas.com/

Tried emailing you before, phone too I think.

Lost for words Fladlien… Apart from you’re brilliant. Thanks, Max

  46. Chris says:

    Jason,

It sounds like you have a good plan to get your number down. You might also try supplements like Artichoke Leaf. My number was similar to yours and I cut out many of the foods you wrote about. I exercise like a mad man now and my breakfast consists of steel cut oats with flax seed and soy milk each and every morning. My numbers are down below 200 and I threw away the statins prescribed after the first week of finding out about my situation.

You are right an all out assault on what you really want is required to make things happen. BTW – you will be receiving my thank you in the coming weeks! :-)

  47. dr carney says:

Great material, great presentation, only thing I’m worried about is you actually believing that a low cholesterol is good for you. If you were to take the time and really do some research, you’d find out that as you age, your cholesterol should be higher, It’s healthier and you have less chance of Alzheimer’s. But enough about that. Oh and the other questions that should be asked before making a determination on your current diagnosis is this. What was your HDL level, VLDL level and LDL level. Are work together. If you have a decent HDL level, you’re set. Forget the supposed bad reading.
    Great article like I said.
    Dr. Carney

  48. Kerry Morris says:

Like that attitude, enjoyed the read! Thanks!..K

  49. Dave says:

I wish you luck, but the road to better health doesn’t lie with grains or soy. BTW, why is it that people who claim to eat vegan/vegetarian eat grains? They are not vegetables. Not corn, wheat, rye, barley or rice.

I dropped grains and potatoes from my diet about 17 months ago and haven’t felt this good in 13 years – I’m 45.

  50. Tim says:

If you ate meat and hit the record button before we talked you wouldn’t have these problems! Get better man – MASSIVE ACTION TIME
